We are seeking an enthusiastic experienced vet to join the growing team in Dubbo in either a full or part time capacity.

You will be joining a five-vet practice, where the team includes five vet nurses, two receptionists, a practice manager and a client coordinator.

Clinic and role:

They are a small animal clinic for dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets, reptiles and wildlife, with a great track record in nurturing vets in their professional careers. Their regional location gives us a great variety of cases from companion animals to working and sporting dogs, and a growing demand for dental procedures including restoration.

Referral of cases to larger metropolitan centres is encouraged where necessary, but often clients prefer to stay local – allowing them to follow cases from start to finish. The regional location guarantees a much wider variety and volume of interesting cases compared with metropolitan centres – giving you a chance to consolidate your experience.

You will be well supported, working with several other experienced vets. An experienced vet and nurse are available for assistance with complex after-hours cases.

Their clinic contains all the modern equipment and set up you need to practice the highest standards of veterinary medicine.

  • Three fully equipped consult rooms

  • Two large hospital areas for surgical preparation and medical cases

  • Imaging/ICU room - fitted with 2 ICU cages, xray, ultrasound, anaesthetics, digital radiology, endoscopes

  • Pathology -IDEXX Procyte Haematology, Catalyst biochemistry & urinalysis, REM Vetscan VS Pro for coagulation profiles

  • Dentistry – modern dental room includes DR & CR radiography, dental machine, dental restoration capability (upskill dental competency)

  • Critical Care

  • Ophthalmology – Digital tonometer, PanOptic Ophthalmoscope.

  • Euthanasia – our euthanasia protocol has a strong focus on both the client and patient having a pleasant experience. We have a designated ‘Quiet Room’, which is a consultation room designed for client privacy and comfort.

    About Dubbo: Dubbo is a large and growing regional centre in central-west NSW, with a population of over 40 000. It has all of the convenience of a large centre, with the laid-back feel of a country town. There are many young working professionals (doctors, pharmacists, dentists, physios, etc.) who are always keen to meet and welcome new people to town.

    Housing – in the last 12 months 1022 houses have been sold in Dubbo with a median sale price of $410K (up 17.8% annually) (Ref: Property Value by CoreLogic)

    There are several highly regarded primary and secondary schools in Dubbo, and the town hosts a number of regional school sporting and other events. Dubbo is also conveniently accessible to eastern Australian cities, with direct flights of only 1 hour to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Ballina and Newcastle.

    • Clinic hours

      • 8:30am-6:00pm (Mon - Fri)

      • 8:30am-1pm (Sat)

      • Closed Sundays and Public Holidays

    • After hours duties are shared equally between all 4 vets

      • One weeknight per week, one in four weekends on call

    • Rostered days off – after a weekend on call you will have the following Monday afternoon, Thursday afternoon, and entire Friday off.
