We are looking for an enthusiastic Surgical Nurse to join a great team based in Sidcup and work closely with three surgery certificate holders.... Do you have an interest in surgical nursing?

About Us

The Veterinary Hospital is based in the Sidcup area. There are ISFM Gold accredited and offer 24/7 care to their loyal clients, and have a large enthusiastic and friendly team. This includes a dedicated Veterinary Care Assistant team, night team, client care team, insurance team, bookings team and lab team. And they have a huge variety of equipment and offer a variety of specialist disciplines including ultrasound, radiography, MRI, orthopaedic surgery, laparoscopic surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine, and exotics.

The current team is made up of 27 Veterinary surgeons, 28 Veterinary nurses, and a team of 10 Veterinary Care Assistants. With a range of brilliant and supportive certificate holders in- Surgery, imaging, ophthalmology, dentistry, medicine, and dermatology. The team are very close knit, involving a lot of socialising outside of work which they are very proud of.

The Role:

  • Some of your duties will include maintenance and auditing of theatre procedures, checklists, and sterility to include autoclaving, and ETO sterilisation techniques. Experience of laparoscopic kits, locking kits, TPLO equipment, air hoses, maintenance, and cleaning as well as reordering and stock control.

  • The role will be working 40 hours a week over 4 days, 10.5 hours per day which includes 30 min unpaid lunch. You will be required to work 1 in 4 weekends and be on the SOC rota

The Ideal Nurse:

  • The ideal candidate has interest in studying for additional qualifications in anaesthesia or surgery.

  • Experience of laparoscopic kits, locking kits, TPLO equipment, air hoses, maintenance, and cleaning as well as reordering and stock control. Senior competence in anaesthesia of higher risk patients and comorbidities (those challenging anaesthetics).

  • Experience as a clinical coach with ability to mentor and help facilitate change.

  • We are a cat friendly practice so additional experience with reassuring those difficult cats also desirable.
