We’re working with a genuinely independent small animal practice on the North Coast of Northern Ireland that would suit a vet who either already has a strong surgical skillset, or someone who wants to seriously develop one.
This is a busy two-branch practice with a high surgical caseload, modern equipment and a team that places patient care ahead of profit.
You’ll still have plenty of variety across consultations, diagnostics and emergency work, but if surgery is where your interest lies, there is a lot here to get stuck into.
The Role
You’ll be joining a supportive team across two established branches, seeing a varied small animal caseload with strong exposure to surgery.
The role includes:

Routine and more involved surgical cases

Consultations and diagnostics
-
Emergency treatment
-
Preventative healthcare and client education
-
Working closely with an experienced nursing and support team
Importantly, the practice does not outsource its out-of-hours care, so there is continuity for patients and genuine exposure to emergency cases.
Surgery, Surgery, Surgery
This is the real selling point.
The practice has a busy surgical caseload and is particularly interested in speaking with vets who either:

Are already confident surgeons and want a role where they can actually use those skills

Have a strong interest in surgery and want the support, caseload and CPD backing to become much more advanced
They are also very open to supporting someone towards further qualifications and would actively encourage certification.

So you’re not going to be held back by a lack of equipment when it comes to properly working cases up.
What They’re Looking For
They’re open-minded on level of experience.
An experienced vet with strong surgical ability would fit in really well, but they would also consider a more recently qualified vet who is enthusiastic, clinically driven and keen to build their surgical confidence.
What matters most is that you enjoy being hands-on, care about doing things properly and want to keep progressing.
