Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon | Co. Meath
Independent Practice | No Weekends | No OOH | Full or Part-Time | Flexible Hours
If you enjoy having the time and freedom to properly work up your cases, but don't want your career to come at the expense of your evenings and weekends, this could be a very good move.
We're working with an established, independently owned veterinary hospital in Co. Meath, looking to welcome an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to their team.
This isn't a corporate clinic with rigid protocols or targets. You'll have genuine clinical freedom, an interesting first-opinion caseload and the facilities to investigate and manage cases properly, while working alongside an experienced and established team.
The practice
The companion animal side of the practice holds Veterinary Hospital status and is accredited by the Veterinary Council of Ireland, with the wider practice serving the Athboy, Trim and Kells areas for more than 20 years.
You'll have access to:
• Digital X-ray
• Ultrasound
• Fully equipped in-house laboratory
• Medical and surgical caseloads with scope for proper case work-ups
• Experienced veterinary colleagues
• Established nursing and administrative support
It's an environment that should particularly suit a vet who enjoys being trusted clinically and wants to continue developing rather than simply working through a packed consult list.
And the rota is genuinely attractive...
There are no weekends and no out-of-hours requirements attached to this Small Animal position.
The practice is open to discussing:
-
Full-time
-
Part-time
-
Flexible working arrangements
So if you've been thinking about reducing your hours, fitting work around family or other commitments, or simply finding a role that gives you more of your life back, it's absolutely worth a conversation.
What are they looking for?
Ideally, you'll already have some experience in small animal practice and be comfortable managing a varied first-opinion caseload.
More importantly, they're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a smaller independent team, communicates well with clients and colleagues, and appreciates the autonomy that comes with independent practice.
Whether your strengths lie more towards medicine, surgery or a mixture of both, there is plenty of scope to make the position your own.

Why Meath?
It offers the best of both worlds if you want to get away from the expense and pace of Dublin without feeling cut off from it.
You're based in the heart of Meath, with Navan, Trim and Kells all accessible and Dublin within commuting distance, while having countryside right on your doorstep.
For someone already living in Meath, Westmeath, Cavan or the surrounding counties, it could also offer a much better commute and work-life balance without needing a major relocation.
You don't need to be actively job hunting to have a conversation.
