The clinic is a well-established first opinion practice in Halifax, looking for a veterinary surgeon who enjoys collaborative practice, values good clinical standards, and wants the support to keep developing. There is also scope to grow into leadership or mentoring in time, though that is welcomed rather than expected.
Life at the practice
This is a long-standing practice with a loyal client base and a friendly, experienced team. It runs from a purpose-built facility with three dedicated consulting rooms and a fully equipped operating theatre, so there is a genuinely good environment for both routine and more complex work. The caseload is varied across medical and surgical, giving you room to stretch your skills, with experienced colleagues alongside you and the clinical freedom to make the calls that are right for your patients. Out-of-hours is covered separately, so this role stays focused on first opinion care with no routine OOH commitment, which is what makes the balance here work.

You get character homes at prices well below Leeds or Harrogate, the rolling Pennine hills and countryside villages on your doorstep, and a town that has genuinely reinvented itself around the restored Piece Hall, with its independent shops, cafes and open-air concerts. It is well connected too: direct trains reach Leeds in around 20 to 35 minutes and Manchester in 35 to 50, so the cities are there when you want them, without the cost or the crowds when you don't.
The rota
- 40 hours a week across four or five days
- No out-of-hours
- Part-time rotas considered, so do get in touch if that suits you better
About you
- An experienced vet, confident taking on a varied caseload and diagnostic work
- Someone who puts patient care first and builds trust with clients naturally
- Keen to keep developing, and comfortable helping to shape clinical standards
- A team player, with an interest in mentoring or leadership a bonus but by no means essential
