Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon | Greater Manchester | Up to £64,000 FTE DOE
A busy and well-established small animal practice across the Greater Manchester area is looking to welcome an RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a brilliant opportunity for a Vet looking for a genuinely varied clinical role while maintaining a strong work-life balance. With no out-of-hours commitments and no sole charge, you'll be joining a large, experienced and highly supportive clinical team.
About the role:
The practice operates across two sites, including a 24-hour A&E hospital, offering exposure to an interesting and diverse mix of routine, inpatient and emergency cases.
You'll be working alongside a highly experienced team of 14 Vets, including several certificate holders, supported by 20 RVNs, Student Nurses and Animal Care Assistants, as well as a dedicated support team.
The role itself offers plenty of variety, with a focus on consultations and inpatient/ward care. There is also the opportunity to undertake occasional surgical days if this is something you enjoy.
Surgery is completely optional, meaning this role could equally suit a Vet looking for a consult-focused position.
One of the biggest attractions of this opportunity is the flexibility available. The team are open to discussing different working arrangements and may even be able to accommodate school hours for the right person.
The working pattern:
20 hours per week
2 days per week – Wednesday plus Thursday or Friday
Shifts of 8:00am–6:30pm or 10:00am–8:30pm

1 weekend in 6, paid in addition to salary
No OOH
No sole charge
The team are looking for a Vet who has gained good initial experience and feels confident with routine consultations and general pet wellbeing.
If you're interested in joining the surgical rota, confidence with routine procedures would be required, although surgical work is entirely optional.
You'll be joining a collaborative environment where communication, compassion and teamwork are genuinely valued. Specialist interests are also welcomed and supported.

Salary up to £32,000 (£64,000 FTE) DOE
6.6 weeks annual leave including bank holidays
£1,750 CPD allowance per annum
