A well-established small animal group in Ayrshire is looking to welcome a Veterinary Surgeon to their team, with flexibility to be based in either Ayr or Irvine.
This is a great opportunity for a good all-round GP vet looking to join a stable, supportive environment, with access to a varied caseload across multiple sites.
The Role
- 3 to 4 days per week
- 1 in 4 Saturday rota (9am–5pm)
- No Sundays
- No out-of-hours
- Working hours typically 8:30am–6:30pm, with some flexibility
You’ll be primarily based in Ayr or Irvine. Both practices are busy but well organised, typically running with 3 vets per day and a good balance between consults and ops.
Consults are 15 minutes, with protected admin time built into the day (45 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the afternoon), helping to keep the workload manageable.

- The Ayr site offers additional equipment including laparoscopy, with support available if you’re keen to develop in this area
- Experienced team on hand for support and case discussion
The Team
A well-established team across three sites, with a good mix of vets (12) and RVNs. It’s a collaborative environment where people support each other, share knowledge and work together to manage cases.
The team are experienced and genuinely supportive of one another, creating an environment where everyone can develop with confidence. There’s a strong emphasis on sharing knowledge, discussing cases and giving each other the space to explore clinical interests and grow at their own pace.
The Candidate
- Ideally around 3 to 4 years’ experience, though confident less experienced vets will be considered (New Graduates will NOT be considered)
- Comfortable with routine consults and surgery
- Happy with some sole charge - this will be on the Saturday, but you will have the back up of a float vet
- Interest in developing clinically or pursuing a certificate welcomed
