​An exciting opportunity has become available with our client for the role of Veterinary Technician - Oncology Department.

This is a new state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital in Toronto! They are a 32 Vet, 110 staff member hospital housed within a 20,000 square foot facility fully equipped with specialty technology found nowhere else in Canada, including our AI triage system and 3 Tesla MRI.

You will be exposed to advanced nursing techniques and other specialty procedures not routinely performed in regular practice!

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the oncologist, the duties and responsibilities of the Oncology Veterinary Technician includes:

  • patient care in conjunction with ER and ICU technicians

  • medical record entry (including flow sheets, daily soaps, pertinent laboratory data, prescriptions)

  • history taking for appointments and discharging patients to the clients

  • performing and submitting laboratory samples

  • assisting the oncology in procedures as necessary

  • performing and/or assisting with patient chemotherapy and treatment

  • bandage changes as necessary

  • administering medications

  • other duties as assigned


Skills and Effort Requirements

  • Ability to use independent judgement and initiative;

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to participate as a team member.


Minimum Requirements

  • Registered Veterinary Technician with the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians

  • A minimum of 1 year post graduation experience is desired
