Registered Veterinary Nurse — (Dorset)
No out-of-hours · 1-in-3 Saturday mornings only · £33,500 FTE + a genuinely strong package

If you came into nursing to actually nurse to run your own clinics, grow a caseload, and use the full breadth of your training rather than just hold the other end of the lead — this could be the team for you.

We're looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly, well-established small animal practice in Poole.

You'd be joining a close-knit team, three vets, a Head RVN, a student nurse about to qualify, plus two VCAs and an ACA. It's small enough that you're never a number, and you'll be genuinely backed by the people around you.

Why now is a brilliant time to join
There's real momentum here. Over the next six months the practice is having a full refurbishment — alongside a refresh and rebrand. They're investing properly in nurse-led care, and they want a nurse who wants to grow right alongside it.

What you'll be doing

  • Running your own nurse-led consultations — and there's clear scope to do more of these as the clinics grow
  • Schedule 3 work and supporting a building surgical list (around 2–3 procedures a day and climbing)
  • Patient monitoring, admissions, discharges and exceptional inpatient care
  • Working side by side with a team that genuinely shares knowledge and has your back

The hours (here's the good bit)

  • 40-hour week, daytime shifts only — typically 8.30am–5pm or 9am–6pm
  • Scope for a compressed 4-day week
  • No out-of-hours. None.
  • Weekends are just 1 in 3 Saturdays, 8am–12pm

What's on offer

  • £33,500 FTE
  • £750 CPD allowance
  • 2 days' paid CPD leave,
  • Funded certificates
  • Clear internal career pathways
  • 5 weeks' annual leave plus bank holidays (rising with service)
  • Health Cash Plan
  • Wellbeing support
  • Life assurance
  • RCVS fees paid
  • VDS fees paid
  • Cycle to Work
  • Staff Discounts

Why Poole?
You'll be minutes from some of the finest coastline in the country; Sandbanks' blue-flag beaches, Poole Harbour, and the Jurassic Coast right on your doorstep. Think sea swims and harbour walks on your days off, all the buzz of Bournemouth next door, and the New Forest a short hop away. Coast and countryside, without the big-city price tag.

About you

  • You're an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse who takes real pride in patient and client care.
  • Ideally you'll have a couple of years behind you, but above all you're a team player who wants to lead clinics, keep learning, and be part of something growing.

If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you — apply today, or get in touch for a confidential, no-pressure chat about the role.

To apply, contact Sophie at Lloyd & Cowan on 07519119233 or send your CV via APPLY.
