SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION:
The Regional Veterinary Director (RVD) is responsible for ensuring our veterinary centres provide quality medical care, exceptional customer service & business performance, through recruiting, supervising, & development of outstanding medical directors and associate veterinarians. RVD’s will collaborate with the Regional Managers to ensure delivery of complete pet care services within their region.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Supports the mission, vision, culture and policies of Destination Pet of complete care and well-being for pets.
Drive a successful and growing Medical Director & veterinarian team through hiring, recruiting, referrals & retention. Partner with Regional Managers on doctor retention, staffing support and compensation. Ensure the delivery of an exceptional onboarding and mentorship experience.
Drive regional performance to deliver outstanding, quality medical care & customer service that focuses on overall health & well-being for our patients, utilizing all aspects of our service centers.
Develop and manage performance plans to meet center budgets and doctor production requirements, in partnership with Regional Managers.
Develop & lead the Medical Director & veterinarian team to ensure the care delivered in our hospitals meets industry, regulatory, DP and AAHA standards.
Develop and manage annual budgets, in partnership with the Regional Managers.
Develop productive relationships with veterinary medical colleges to meet the recruiting needs for the practice, partnering with our recruiting team & serving as a university liaison.
50-75% local and national travel. Regularly visit centers & collaborate with Regional Managers to establish a schedule & priorities for travel with business partners.
Work to enhance Destination Pet community standing and brand reputation.
Actively participate in national, state and local veterinary associations.
Have easy access to Texas and Louisiana Hospitals.
Experience, Training, Education:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM, VMD) or equivalent foreign degree is required.
Five years of clinical veterinary experience are required.
Two years of hospital leadership experience are required.
Two years of veterinary multi-location management experience preferred.
Active, valid veterinary license in at least one state of responsibility, DEA license & USDA Accreditation are required. May be required to attain additional state licenses.
