Night Veterinary Surgeon – Independent 24/7 Clinic, North London
Up to £75,000 per annum (DOE) | 7 nights on, 14 nights off | Full-time, permanent

If you love emergency and inpatient work and want to do it somewhere with the kit and ambition of a larger hospital but the warmth of a genuine independent, this one is well worth a look.
I'm recruiting on behalf of a friendly, ethical and progressive independent clinic in North London for an experienced, compassionate Night Veterinary Surgeon. It's a modern, well-equipped 24/7 practice offering first-opinion care, referral services, advanced diagnostics, surgery and emergency treatment all under one roof, with empathy, quality, integrity and compassion genuinely at the heart of how they work.
The role
On a 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota, you'll provide emergency and out-of-hours care and look after hospitalised patients overnight. Day to day that means:

Managing emergency consultations and urgent cases overnight

Providing excellent inpatient care and monitoring

Stabilising medical and surgical emergencies

Communicating clearly and compassionately with clients during stressful moments

Working closely with the day team for seamless handovers and continuity of care

Using advanced facilities to support confident clinical decision-making
You'll have real support around you, with an experienced day team and clinical colleagues, and the facilities to back your decisions: surgical theatres, a dental theatre, X-ray, CT, ultrasound, physiotherapy space, and separate intensive care areas for dogs, cats and infectious patients. The wider service spans GP and emergency care, first and second opinions, referral work, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, diagnostic imaging, physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, so the overnight caseload is varied and genuinely rewarding.

Who they're looking for
You'll be MRCVS registered, confident with emergency and out-of-hours work, and comfortable with sole-charge decision-making overnight. Calm, practical and compassionate under pressure, a strong communicator with clients, and a team player who values clear handovers and high clinical standards.
Experience in ECC, emergency practice, hospital work or sole-charge nights would be highly desirable, but they're also open to speaking with vets who have the right attitude, confidence and clinical foundations.

You'll be in the heart of North London, close to the leafy, café-lined neighbourhoods the area is loved for, with green spaces, independent restaurants, characterful high streets and brilliant transport links right on the doorstep. Whether you want the buzz of central London on your days off or a quieter local scene, both are easy to reach, and the generous 14 nights off between blocks give you real time to enjoy it all.
