Mixed Veterinary Surgeon- Modern Independent Practice

  • Modern established Veterinary Practice

  • Top salary, up to £65k

  • Career development with certificate support

  • Work life balance

An esteemed Independent Vet Practice nestled in the picturesque rural area of North Yorkshire is actively seeking a skilled veterinary surgeon with a passion for mixed practice.

Open to both experienced vets and those more recently graduated.

The Position

  • The ideal candidate will be joining an independently owned, R.C.V.S. accredited practice that boasts a diverse caseload, comprising 75% farm work, 5% horse work, and 20% pets. The duty rota is evenly shared among 12 vets, ensuring a balanced workload.

  • The practice is renowned for its high-calibre support staff, including qualified RVNs, and a friendly, experienced veterinary team.

  • Regular in-house clinical meetings and discussions are held to maintain a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

The Practice

  • The practice has a large and expanding farm client base, with frequent routine fertility visits and herd health planning for both cattle and sheep.

  • Tools such as Total Vet, Vet Impress, and bull/ram fertility testing are utilized regularly.

  • The practice operates from new, spacious, purpose-built premises, complete with a large farm dispensary.

  • The role offers a dynamic mix of work, and the responsibilities can be tailored to the individual's areas of interest on a daily basis. It is crucial that the candidate is comfortable handling all species out of hours.

  • Recently, a state-of-the-art small animal surgery was constructed, featuring modern facilities such as two vet and one nurse consulting rooms, a separate large operating theatre, a large prep room, a separate room for radiography and ultrasound scanning, an isolation room, and separate cat & dog kennels.

  • The equipment roster includes in-house biochemistry, critical care analysers, endoscopes, digital radiography (also used for horse work), ECG, dental radiography, and ultrasonography.

  • The duty rota encompasses both first and second call, shared evenly among Vets, and there is a nurse on duty out of hours to provide excellent support during emergency situations.

The Package

  • This is an incredible opportunity for an experienced veterinary surgeon with a proactive and enthusiastic approach to become an integral part of a well-established practice.

  • The practice is offering favourable terms and is eager to welcome a professional who is dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care to a diverse range of animals.
