Experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeon

Looking for a genuinely mixed role where you can build on your farm or equine interests while remaining part of an experienced, independent team?
We’re working with a well-established independent practice in Mid-Ulster that is recruiting experienced Mixed Veterinary Surgeons due to continued growth and expansion.
The practice currently operates from Magherafelt and a branch in Randalstown, with a new purpose-built veterinary surgery planned to open in spring 2027.
The practice
You’ll join an established seven-vet team with a genuinely varied caseload comprising approximately:

50% large animal

40% small animal
-
10% equine
The practice is particularly interested in speaking with:

A mixed vet with a strong interest in farm animal work

A mixed vet with a strong interest in equine work
You will still retain the variety of mixed practice, but there is scope to shape the role around your preferred clinical area.
Who they’re looking for
The priority is an experienced vet who is comfortable working with a good degree of independence.
Ideally, you will have at least two years of experience in mixed practice and be confident handling a general caseload. You should enjoy working as part of a close-knit team while also being comfortable making clinical decisions independently when required.
Both full-time and part-time applications are welcome, with negotiable hours available for the right person.
The rota
The standard weekend rota is approximately 1:5.
During the busier spring period, the rota operates across an approximately six-week cycle and includes two full weekends and one half weekend.
There are also some evening clinics and out-of-hours responsibilities, shared across the wider veterinary team.
