Head Veterinary Nurse – Full-Time | Well-Equipped 24-Hour Clinic | North West England

We are working with a leading, well-established 24-hour veterinary practice based in Lancashire, currently seeking an experienced and confident Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their dedicated team.

This is a thriving, community-centred clinic offering comprehensive veterinary services with the support of a skilled and collaborative nursing and clinical team. The practice is purpose-built, with excellent facilities and all the resources you need at your fingertips to deliver outstanding patient care.

This role is ideally suited to a proactive RVN ready to step into a leadership position, guiding a large and supportive nursing team in a busy, well-resourced hospital environment.


The Role

  • Position: Head Veterinary Nurse

  • Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern (mix of early and late shifts)

  • Weekends: 1 in 6 weekends

As Head RVN, you will be instrumental in coordinating day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring the highest standards of nursing care, and mentoring fellow RVNs to help them reach their full potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a skilled nursing team in a busy hospital setting

  • Deliver exceptional patient care before, during, and after procedures

  • Conduct nurse-led consults and perform schedule 3 procedures

  • Manage inpatient care, admissions, discharges, and medication protocols

  • Support smooth clinical workflows and uphold practice standards

  • Act as a key point of contact between the nursing and veterinary teams

  • Encourage professional development and team collaboration through coaching and coordination


About You

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse

  • Confident in leading by example and supporting a busy team

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

  • Proven experience in patient care, surgical support, and nurse consults

  • Comfortable in a hospital or out-of-hours environment

  • Motivated to uphold clinical excellence and support the growth of others
