Head Veterinary Nurse – Lead with Impact in a Progressive, Independent Practice

Location: Brighton | Hours: Full-Time | Type: Independent Small Animal Practice

Are you an experienced RVN ready to take the next step into leadership — or a current Head Nurse seeking a new challenge in a progressive and people-focused practice?

We’re working with a highly respected, independently owned clinic in Brighton offering an excellent opportunity to make your mark in a well-established, forward-thinking team. This is a rare opening in a practice that prioritises clinical standards, kindness, and team wellbeing — all set in one of the UK’s most vibrant and creative coastal cities.

Why Consider This Role?

  • Lead a passionate, tight-knit team in a practice known for its continuity of care and excellent reputation among loyal clients.

  • Work in a fully equipped clinical environment with the tools to support a varied medical and surgical caseload.

  • Enjoy a great lifestyle balance with predictable hours, minimal weekend commitments, and no out-of-hours work.

  • Be based in the heart of Brighton — a city rich in energy, inclusivity, and coastal charm.

About the Role

As Head Nurse, you’ll play a key role in leading the nursing team, shaping clinical protocols, mentoring junior staff, and supporting a collaborative culture that puts patient care and team wellbeing first.

You’ll take ownership of nurse-led services, support day-to-day surgery and inpatient care, and work closely with both clinical and support staff to ensure high standards across the board.

What’s on Offer

  • A competitive salary reflective of experience and responsibility

  • Flexible working patterns to support work-life balance

  • Genuine autonomy to lead, grow, and develop the nursing team

  • Ongoing training and development support, including opportunities for advanced qualifications

  • A supportive, community-minded team that values ideas, initiative, and clinical integrity

  • Stability and security in an independent, non-corporate setting

What We’re Looking For

  • RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse

  • Strong leadership ability or readiness to step up into a senior role

  • Solid clinical skills and a confident, compassionate approach to patient care

  • A natural mentor and team player who thrives in a supportive, proactive environment

  • A desire to deliver high standards and shape a positive team culture

This role offers the best of both worlds: the opportunity to lead in a respected, independent practice, and the lifestyle perks of living in one of the UK’s most desirable coastal cities. If you're looking to grow professionally in a place where you're trusted, supported and valued — this could be the perfect move.
