Be part of a leading Graduate Development Programme at a lovely Branch at Northam, Devon. It is a purpose built beautiful large clinic in the countryside, with a team consisting of 10 Vets, 7 RVNs and an SVN as well as several Client Care Assistance!

The Team:

Within the Veterinary team they have Vets with ophthalmology, dermatology and surgical certificates.  They accept eye and skin referrals from surrounding clinics and have separate cat and dog waiting areas, with several theatres and consult rooms.

They are just the perfect set up for your first role as a Vet and best of all they have their very own pet sheep too!

The practice is the largest independent small animal group in the UK which is managed entirely by vets. They know your first role in practice is a critical step in your career, so have designed a new graduate support programme that supports you as an individual as you graduate from the lecture hall to the consult room.

Few of us had the full range of consulting, medical and surgical skills on day one. With this new programme launching in August 2023, you’ll benefit from 3 months of one-to-one training with experienced vets. The entire programme runs for 12 months and includes 17 separate teaching modules. It will help you build trust and confidence in your own skills, take the pressure off and avoid many of the stresses that can really get you down. As you will be completing this programme alongside fellow grads, you get the opportunity to create a nice social bond from day one!

Your training will include:

  • 3 months of one-to-one training outside the normal vet rota

  • Practical wet-labs (surgery, dentistry, ophthalmology and ultrasound) and night training

  • Workshops on dermatology, cardiology, exotics, consult training, resilience, mental health and leadership

  • Online Courses in dentistry, surgery, medicine and ECC

  • You will also have a dedicated VETGDP advisor to help you settle into your role. He or she will be your first point of contact for clinical advice and pastoral care, and they’ll help make your integration

The Ideal Graduate Vet:

  • You will ideally be a good communicator with organisational skills

  • You will be able to adapt to working in a team and being able to input your own ideas & thoguhts

  • Please note a full drivers license is essential.

  • Must be RCVS registered

Benefits on Offer:

  • Salary of £35,000 p.a. (a vehicle can be provided or you can select vehicle £2500)
