Fancy farm work with real variety, in one of the most beautiful corners of the UK?
We're recruiting a Farm Vet for a well-established, RCVS-accredited rural mixed practice in the Scottish Borders. There's a strong beef and sheep client base here, backed by small animal and equine services, so you get genuine mixed exposure with farm at the heart of it.
The kit is all in place: phase contrast microscopy, Pulsator-V, and both linear and curvilinear ultrasound scanners. Several colleagues hold certificates or are working towards them, and you'll have experienced vets around you for support whenever you want it.
The role
You'll work primarily with progressive suckler farms, covering routine work from pelvimetry, AI and bull testing through to pregnancy scanning and blood sampling, plus emergency cases as they come. There's scope to get involved with pedigree and commercial sheep flocks too, including a dedicated Flock Health Club. An interest in herd and flock health planning is a must.
- Full-time with a weekday off every other week; part-time considered for the right person
- Equal share of a farm-only out-of-hours rota, currently 1 in 6
Who we're looking for
Someone with solid grounding in a farm or mixed role, confident working independently and comfortable on a farm-only OOH rota without immediate backup. You'll enjoy being part of a close, experienced team, delivering great clinical care and keen to keep building your skills.
What's on offer (pro rata)
- Salary up to £55,000 DOE
- 6.6 weeks' holiday including bank holidays
- £1,750 annual CPD allowance,
- RCVS membership paid
- Two further subscriptions paid
- VDS cover
- Enhanced family leave
- Discounted vet fees
- Cycle to Work
