Experienced Veterinary Surgeon
Merseyside Coast
Well-Established Small Animal Practice

Salary £45,000–£60,000 DOE | 4-Day Week | No OOH

At Lloyd & Cowan Veterinary Recruitment, we are working with a long-established small animal practice on the Merseyside coast, seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and supportive team.

With over 30 years of providing high-quality care to the local community, this is a practice that values continuity, clinical standards, and a genuinely caring environment for both patients and colleagues.

The Role

This is a full-time, permanent position (part-time considered) offering an excellent balance between clinical work and lifestyle.

  • 4-day week, 8:00am–6:30pm

  • Saturday morning rota (currently 1:4–2:5, 8:30am–12:00pm)

  • No out-of-hours or bank holiday work

  • Opportunity to build strong client relationships in a busy first-opinion setting

  • Mix of consulting, surgery, and case work-up with support from experienced colleagues and certificate holders

You’ll be confident working alongside another vet as well as undertaking some sole charge. An OV qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.

Facilities & Team

The practice is well-equipped and supported by a skilled nursing team and holds accreditation with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons as a training practice. A collaborative culture ensures plenty of opportunity for case discussion and development.

What’s on Offer

  • Salary £45,000–£60,000 depending on experience

  • 6.6 weeks’ holiday including bank holidays

  • £1,750 CPD allowance plus 5 days’ paid CPD leave

  • Professional memberships including British Small Animal Veterinary Association paid

  • VDS cover provided

  • Genuine support for further training and career progression

The Location

Situated between Southport and Liverpool, with easy access to Preston, the area offers a blend of coastline, countryside, and city life. Excellent transport links, including nearby Manchester Airport, make travel straightforward.

This role would suit a confident GP vet looking for a stable, well-supported environment with an excellent work-life balance in a coastal location.
