What They Are Looking For
They seek a dedicated professional to support their medical team in maintaining excellence. This role involves mastering their protocols while coaching and developing fellow doctors in collaboration with the Medical Director.
Responsibilities:
Respond to medical inquiries over the phone.
Triage patients promptly.
Gather relevant information, including signalment, presenting complaints, vital signs, and conduct necessary tests such as ultrasounds, x-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies.
Diagnose each pet’s condition and create a treatment plan.
Communicate diagnoses and treatment options to clients.
Prepare and present estimates to clients.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Demonstrate the value of treatments by addressing client concerns.
Prescribe medications following legal protocols.
Perform minor and major emergency surgeries.
Educate clients on aftercare and preventative measures.
Mentorship & Leadership:
Coach fellow doctors in medical excellence and provide an excellent customer experience.
Support colleagues in their growth and development plans.
Facilitate team meetings and motivate the team.
Promote an inclusive environment, actively managing unconscious bias.
Medical Processes & Initiatives:
Implement patient safety initiatives as directed by local leadership.
Manage basic maintenance and cycle counts.
Create and manage doctor schedules, accommodating leave requests and posting schedules two months in advance.
Provide support during schedule changes or callouts.
Address customer complaints related to medical concerns.
Medical Strategy:
Serve as interim Medical Director when necessary.
Lead monthly doctor meetings and rounds with support.
Assist in recruitment marketing, sourcing, candidate experience, and succession planning.
Who They Are:
Candidates should have a DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree.
A minimum of 2-3 years of emergency experience is required; leadership experience is preferred but not necessary.
Candidates should be flexible to balance clinical and administrative duties as needed.
They should demonstrate commitment to top-tier customer satisfaction and hospital revenue.
Preferred experience includes emergency surgery/endoscopy, though it is not required.
Extensive background in managing critical cases is essential.
Candidates must be willing to work various shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
They should be eager to support colleagues and handle administrative tasks outside regular hours (e.g., doctor callouts, customer complaints, scheduling, and meeting preparation).
A passion for mentoring and leading a team of exceptional Emergency Veterinarians is highly valued.
